Blank Check is pleased to announce a solo exhibition of new work by Alex Goss. Through an installation of hand-built machines, THE DUST SHADOWS CAST questions literacy and illiteracy in technology as machines become more autonomous.
Alex Goss (b. 1991, Houston, TX) studied at the Cooper Union in New York City. Shortly after receiving his BFA, he attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture (Madison, ME) where he developed “YOUSCREW”, an intervention of tamper-proof screws installed guerilla style in bathrooms, universities, museums, and other institutional spaces. Goss began adopting the language of industry and infrastructure after returning to Houston to learn about its manufacturing trades in the energy and medical fields; he currently fabricates industrial grade 3D printers and medical devices. Goss has also held solo exhibitions in New York, Baltimore, Chicago, and Houston.
