Michael Bevilacqua “7:15”
Blank Check Gallery is pleased to announce its eighth and final show of the inaugural 2016 season. “7:15” is an exhibition of works primarily created for a 2012 exhibition in NYC under the title “Ceremony” which later traveled to Denmark with additional works to form the exhibition “Factory to Factory”. “7:15” sees these works and others presented in a new order for their arrival in Houston. The exhibition addresses themes of industrialism, tragedy, and synesthesia as foundations for the artist’s studio practice. The title of the show is itself a direct reference to a shared birthday between the artist and the late Joy Division singer Ian Curtis.The opening reception will take place Friday December 9th, 2016 from 7pm-11pm at Blank Check Gallery, 1834 1/2 Westheimer rd. Michael Bevilacqua was born July 15th 1966 in Carmel California. He conducted studies at Long Beach State University and Santa Barbara City College before continuing at the Cambridge College of Art and Technology in Great Britain. He has exhibited internationally, with solo shows in Milan, Copenhagen, Tokyo, Barcelona, Bejing, Madrid,New York, and Paris. His work is held in several public and private collections including The Whitney Museum of American Art;New York, NY, The Deste Foundation; Athens, Greece, The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; San Francisco, CA, The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art; Humlebaek, Denmark, The Mitsuni Collection; Tokyo, Japan, The Orange County Museum of Art; Newport Beach, CA, The Astrup Fearnley Museum; Oslo, Norway and The Dallas Museum of Modern Art; Dallas,TX. He lives and works in New York City.
